Cassidy Hilworth

Founder and Lead Instructor

Cassidy is a former Professional Hockey Player for the Toronto Furies of the CWHL (Canadian Women's Hockey League). Before the Furies, she played at Elmira College from 2011-2015 where she won a National Championship in 2013 and set an NCAA record for most power play goals in a single season, which still stands today. 

​

Cassidy is UNB Women's Hockey Assistant Coach and has been their skating and skills coach since the program was reinstated. She is also the assistant coach for the U15 Major Blues during the 2022/2023 season. She has been coaching for the last 9 years with many programs: RNS Prep Girls Hockey Team, Leo Hayes High School, Hockey Alberta, Team New Brunswick, and Team Atlantic.

Katie Northrup

Goaltending Instructor

Katie played for the Female Midget AAA Fundy Nationals. She then went on to play 2 years for the UNB Women's Club Hockey team, winning two league championships.

​

Katie has been goalie coaching for over 8 years and has worked with countless teams along with other goaltending programs. She has been the goaltending coach for Team Atlantic, Bantam AAA Phantoms, and Team New Brunswick. She was also chosen as a Hockey Canada NCCP Goaltending Skills Coach.

Katie Peddle

Lead Instructor

Katie is from Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador. She recently graduated from Saint Mary’s University where she played 4 years of university hockey with the Huskies. She has had a strong passion for coaching since she started coaching power skating and skill development at Andrew’s hockey. She just completed her Masters degree in Business Administration at UNB with a concentration in Sport and Recreation Management.

Alayna Wagstaff

Program Coordinator

Alayna currently played for the University of New Brunswick Women's Hockey Team for five years.  She is from Olds, Alberta. She recently graduated from UNB with a Bachelor's in Recreation and Sports Studies with a minor in Business Administration. 

​

Alayna has worked with both our Little Skaters and Fundamentals programs for the past 3 years. She loves working with all of our athletes! As the program coordinator, she will be planning our Fundamentals camps, social media, maintaining partnerships, aiding in growing the business, hitting the ice and coaching at the facility!

​

"Alayna is a great addition to our program. With a background in business at UNB and working with kids in previous years, she is able to bring both the organizational aspect as well as the fun kid centered piece. She is a great addition to all of  and will help Total Speed continue to grow!"

Brooke Stanford

Assistant Instructor 

Brooke played for St. Thomas University for five years. She is from London Ontario. 

​

You will mostly find Brooke coaching at our facility but she will also be on the ice coaching our Little Skaters and Fundamental programs! Brooke is a very friendly person who is great with kids, she knows how to progress kids in order to get to the next level! She has a lot of experience working with children and plenty of knowledge in the game of hockey as she has been playing since she was a little girl. She is a great addition to the Total Speed Team!

Melanie Drost

Assistant Instructor

Melanie currently plays for the University of New Brunswick Women's Hockey Team. She is going into her 4th year. She is from Nepean, ON.

Mel has worked with both our Little Skaters and Fundamentals programs for over a year. She is interested in becoming a teacher.

​

You will see Mel with all of our Little Skaters programs this year!

Jorja Nystrom

Assistant Instructor

Jorja currently plays for the University of New Brunswick Women's Hockey Team. She is in her 2nd year. She is from Leduc Alberta.

Jorja works with our Little Skaters over the year. She loves working with our younger athletes!

Anna O'Donnell

Junior Instructor

Anna has been skating with Total Speed Hockey since its beginning in 2019. She possesses great teaching skills and loves to be out working with all of the athletes! She currently plays for the AA U13 Ice Dogs here in Fredericton.
