MELANIE DROST
LITTLE SKATERS LEAD & ON-ICE COACH
Melanie started skating at the age of 4 and has been playing rep hockey for 19 years. Mel plays on the University of New Brunswick Women’s Hockey Team, where she is a 3-time AUS champion and has made 3 National Appearances. Before joining UNB, Melanie played for the Jr. Lady 67’s in her hometown of Nepean, ON.
Melanie has been coaching with Total Speed Hockey for 5 years, specializing in developing young players’ foundational skills and skating mechanics. She has also worked as a summer instructor with the Ottawa Senators Youth Hockey Programs, gaining valuable experience working with players of all ages and skill levels.
Melanie is in her 5th year at UNB, pursuing a Bachelor of Education while continuing to play hockey at the U SPORTS level. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of hockey players. This year, Melanie will lead Total Speed’s Little Skaters Programs, bringing her energy, expertise, and enthusiasm to the ice.

When Melanie isn’t playing or coaching hockey, she enjoys teaching, photography, and hiking.
